Who am I? Good gravy thats a question thats as loaded as a proper baked potato. Well, my name is Elise. I got myself a fine arts degree in sculpture and ceramics. Growing up in California and Washington, living in Utah was an adjustment to say the least. But there is a strong counter culture here to the pervasive christian one. Its an interesting dynamic to witness and I find it inspiring as an artist. Everyone is vying for their right to live their best life. They just clash...so loudly. I wasn't intending on living in Utah for so long. It's been going on for near 14 years. I had itchy feet as a young adult, but then school and a husband found me. I funnel my longing for new surroundings into my creations. Utah is such a unique place as well, so I can easily appease the desert rat and mountain squirrel heart and my need for a concrete dose of urban in the city. I have heard many people call this state a hole you can't get out of. I think it is because there is something that resonates here that is deeper than politics and religion. It is the safest place I've ever lived. Not because I can leave my car unlocked (which I can't. Skallywags live here too). but there is something safe about the way the mountains circle around protecting this valley that I live in. Entombed in life. Other than art, I love disc golf and gardening and reading. This is me in a nut shell.
